Streetlife Design Competition 2024

In collaboration with Landezine

After a succesful first edition Streetlife has joined forces again with Landezine, and is organizing a design competition for young landscape architects and landscape students. For this competition an internationally renowned jury will announce 6 recognitions with a total of €15.000 in prize money. Newly added to this, is the University Award. Schools can compete with each other by participation with at least 3 teams. All finalists will be invited to present their proposals at the award ceremony in Leiden in front of the jury, after which the winners will be announced.

The theme of this competition is ‘Lost Sites’. The competition is looking for small troubled open spaces and design solutions that are site specific but universal at the same time. In times of social and environmental distress, the world is increasingly more aware of the significance of open space and the issues of urbanization. Qualities of urban sites are lost due to various social changes, rising parking needs, inappropriate design, neglect, and, unfortunately still – war. The competition is looking for multidisciplinary solutions to spatial issues concerning urbanization. The chosen site needs to be a publicly accessible open space in European or North American territories.

Registration applies to multidisciplinary teams of minimal 2 people, with 1 landscape architect/ student and 1 designer of another relevant discipline (architect, industrial designer, visual artist, sociologist, ecologist etc.). With this competition Streetlife not only strives to emphasize the importance of landscape architecture, but also the versatile position of the landscape designer in cooperation with other disciplines.
